ALFREDO T. RAMIREZ, MD (UPCM DEAN 1991)

Dr. Alfredo T. Ramirez was known as the “Father of Burn Medicine” in the Philippines, and served as the Dean of the UP College of Medicine from 1991 to 1994. Dr. Ramirez instituted the Dean’s International Circle (DIC) and Resource Development Office (RDO) towards the goal of gathering funding and resources for the College. A yearly postgraduate course directed towards displaying the excellence of the College alumni and faculty members called the annual Grand Scientific Symposium (GSS) was established during his time as Dean as well. Dr. Ramirez’s time as Dean saw the beginnings of rapid change and development within the College.
