The Virtual Museum:
A Glimpse of the Storied History of UPCM

AGERICO B.M. SISON, MD (UPCM DEAN 1951-1960)

Dr. Agerico B.M. Sison, a prominent internist, held the position of Dean of the UP College of Medicine from 1951 to 1960. Dr. Sison was the nephew of the former Dean, Dr. Antonio G. Sison, and known to be an excellent diagnostician, able to maximize the use of history, physical examination, and minimal laboratory results. Dr. Sison was left with the heavy responsibility of rehabilitating the UPCM and PGH after the war, and managed to create multiple opportunities for academic research and the expansion of specialization by sending a delegation of young Filipino doctors to the United States to revitalize and supplement their interrupted medical education.
