The Virtual Museum:

CARMELO REYES, MD

Dr. Carmelo Reyes served as the President of the Philippine Medical Association from 1925-1926. He was also the founder and first editor of the Philippine Journal of Surgery, and served as the Chief of Clinics in the Philippine General Hospital. Dr. Reyes was notably one of the first surgeons who attempted thoracic surgeries, known for his case report entitled “Anterior thoracotomy for chondrosarcoma of the rib with case report” which delved into his encounter with excising a large chondrosarcoma of the left anterior chest on July 10, 1919.
