The Virtual Museum:
A Glimpse of the Storied History of UPCM

ISABELO CONCEPCION, MD

Dr. Isabelo Concepcion was a former head of the Department of Biochemistry during the mid to late 1930s, serving as such until 1940. He is well known for contributing significantly to the first dietary studies in the country. He was also among the primary contributors to a series of studies in the Philippine Journal of Science, which detailed the analysis of the composition of over 2,206 different food samples. He was also involved in studies detailing the vitamin content of food, undertaking a study on the determinations of Vitamin C in fruits as well as in human blood.
