Dr. Paulo C. Campos is the Father of Nuclear Medicine in the Philippines. He earned his Degree in Medicine from the UP College of Medicine and pursued Post-Graduate Studies in Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Harvard Medical School and Oak Ridge Institute of Nuclear Studies. He has done extensive research on goiter and has promoted the use of nuclear medicine as its treatment in the country. His passion led to the construction of the first radionuclide and radioisotope laboratory in the Philippines. He also established the first Medical Research Laboratory in the Philippines. Outside the Hospital, he founded the Medical Center Manila, and was a former President of the Emilio Aguinaldo College of Medicine. He was also the first President of the National Academy of Science and Technology. For his contributions in the field, he was awarded with the title of National Scientist of the Philippines.
