Dr. Sixto de los Angeles was a doctor and forensic pathologist who graduated from the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine in 1898. In 1912, he was elected as representative of the second district of Rizal province and served as the chairman of the committee on health of the Philippine Assembly. During his term, a number of legislative acts related to the improvement of public health and sanitation were passed. In 1915, he was appointed as the professor and chair of Legal Medicine at the UP College of Medicine which conducted courses in medical jurisprudence and ethics, and rendered services to investigate the cause of sudden or suspicious death, make post-mortem examinations, and identify skeletons. As an author, his major works include Estudios Sobre Antropologia Criminal en las Islas Filipinas (1919), a 1600-page illustrated textbook used as reference in medical and law colleges, as well as Legal Medicine (1934), and El Folklore Medico en Filipinas (1935). Dr. de los Angeles is also known for conducting the medical examination on the alleged remains of Andres and Procopio Bonifacio, as well as that of Gregorio del Pilar.
