VICTOR REYES, MD (UP REGENT 2000-2001)

Dr. Victor A. Reyes is known as the father of Philippine neurosurgery. After spending five years in training at the Lahey Clinic in Massachusetts, he eventually became the first Filipino and Asian to be certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery in 1951. Eventually, he returned to the country and took his practice to the Philippine General Hospital, wherein he started the neurology service of the hospital in 1952. In his later years, he also served as a UP Regent in the years 2000-2001.
