In this article by Dr. Santiago, he recounts his meeting with one of our alumni, Dr. Julita Eugenio-Layug (UPCM 1937), and narrates how she came to be one of the first female medical students of the Veterans Postgraduate Class of Harvard Medical School after an unfortunate tragedy during the Great Raid of 1945. This resulted in an unexpected friendship that endured through time.
